Congratulations to Jim Crosby, 2018 recipient of the “Milton Segel Distinguished Service Award”
A great merchant with an entrepreneurial passion for the independent supermarket business, Jim Crosby will be honored with the “Milton Segel Distinguished Service Award” on Memorial Day weekend at the annual MFA convention in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. Jim is past chairman of MFA and owner of six Crosby Marketplace stores and a Henry’s Market
Dedication to our industry, giving back to the community, philanthropy and devotion to family make Jim a most worthy recipient.
As chairman of MFA, Jim worked on critical legislation for our industry; making numerous trips to Washington to support the industry’s position on such issues as the Bottle Law and Item Pricing as well as numerous health issues. He always brought the independent retailers’ perspective to the table.
Jim’s philanthropy and commitment to the North Shore community have been recognized by the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center for 26 years of supporting the North Shore Cancer Walk. He has been dedicated to hospice, providing food to homeless shelters, supporting the Greater Boston Food Bank, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as well as so many other organizations.
Jim is a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who is always there for his family. At least once or twice a year, he takes everyone away on a family vacation. His family would say “he is the rock of the family”.
He received the SBA award for entrepreneurial success both in New England and nationally.
Jim brings out the best in people. He has been a mentor to so many and has earned tremendous dedication and loyalty from his customers and particularly from those who work for him and with him; many of whom have worked with him for 20 or 30 years.
Jim Crosby is not only a great independent retailer but a tremendous human being. What a wonderful choice for the 2018 “Milton Segel Distinguished Service Award”!!!
